In the heart of Monferrato, a new circular economy project comes to life with Biova Cocconato, a beer produced using unsold bread from local food businesses.
Biova Cocconato is the latest addition to Biova Project’s line of territorial beers.Brewed with unsold bread recovered from food businesses in Cocconato, in the province of Asti, this beer represents an important step forward in the fight against food waste. Inspired by the Kölsch style, the beer allows a saving of 30% of the barley malt normally required for brewing, making the production process more sustainable.
"Biova Cocconato is the latest in a long series of local projects where Biova Project’s circular economy philosophy is applied through a concrete food recovery action that supports and highlights the rebirth of a territory"
says Franco Dipietro, CEO and co-founder of Biova Project.
This reference is created in collaboration with Combriccola Marchetti, which is committed to regenerating the territory through the project ‘Cocconato bell’e buono’. With this initiative, Combriccola Marchetti joins Biova Project in the fight against food waste.
Biova Cocconato was officially presented on May 25th and 26th during the Cocco Beer event in Cocconato. It is now available in participating venues in Cocconato and is ready to be distributed throughout the Monferrato area.
