together against waste

Biova Bread Beer Lago di Como is born from the unsold bread of the bakers of Lake Como. A craft beer that fights food waste and has a unique taste: the smell of bread and the taste of salt. This beer is produced with bread recovered at km 0 and donated by Confcommercio Como bakers.

the commitment of biova and confcommercio como

Biova's commitment has found a great ally in Confcommercio Como and together they have worked to a new initiative of circular economy which aims to help to reduce food waste. How? Giving a second life to unsold bread.

From 150 kg of bread recovered from the shores of Lake Como, 2500 liters of beer were produced, totaling 7575 bottles. This project saved 1365 kg of CO2 emissions.

the smell of bread,

the taste of salt

Biova Bread beer Lago di Como is inspired by the Kölsch recipe (Alc. 4.7% Vol.), a great classic with an unexpected touch of salt, which makes it incredibly drinkable.

Fresh, clear, highly drinkable. Thanks to the recovered bread, we replaced up to 30% of barley malt, allowing a real saving of raw materials and reducing the environmental impact.

Local product,

touristic product

Behind Biova Bread Beer Lago di Como there are some hidden stories: the one about bread that has a second life and reappears with new value on the tables, but also that of bakers who do not want to see their work wasted and the story of wheat, which does not accept to be been grown and then not used.

Biova Lago di Como will not be distributed by large retailers, but in bakeries, restaurants, hotels and public establishments in our area.

The union between modernity and tradition

Obviously the beer must be good, natural, but the eye wants its part! What makes our territory unmistakable all over the world? Our lake, with a particular and unique shape. And the label will also have this function: to bring the memory of our Lake into the homes of tourists.

A simple label was designed, but which also paid homage to the work of the bakers from whom the bread was recovered, in fact, by framing the qr code on the label, you can find all the bakeries that have joined the project by donating their bread.
