This isn't just another startup story you'll forget after two scrolls.
This is concrete news. Substantial news. The kind that involves pallets, logistics, labels, contracts—and most importantly: impact.
Biova enters ALDI.
With its name.
With its mission.
With a beer born not from a dream, but from leftovers.
Because when a surplus-made beer hits mainstream retail:
It's no longer a provocation.
No longer an experiment.
No longer a niche conversation.
It's a tangible solution to a real problem: waste.
Proof that true sustainability can sit on discount shelves—and sell.
They always say our project is "ahead of its time."
Now, perhaps, the shelves have decided to catch up.
This isn't a limited edition.
Not a marketing stunt.
Not a label war.
It's a structural choice by a retail giant.
For us? A powerful signal: sustainability works when done right.
Starting April 7, 2025, BIOVA Aldi beer will be available in 190+ ALDI stores at an introductory price of €1.99/bottle—an affordable way for consumers to support food waste reduction and sustainable production.

A Tangible Circular Economy Project
This initiative marks a significant step for ALDI in promoting more efficient resource use. To produce BIOVA beer, Biova Project collected 300 kg of surplus bread from selected ALDI stores in Piedmont.
The reclaimed bread enabled the production of over 11,000 33cl bottles, saving up to 30% virgin malt. This not only reduces raw material consumption but also lowers CO₂ emissions compared to traditional production methods.
Additionally, by diverting waste from disposal, the project delivers further environmental and economic benefits.
A Truly Unique Drinking Experience
What happens when you replace 30% of the barley malt in a high-fermentation beer with reclaimed bread? ALDI's BIOVA beer is the delicious answer. Pouring a crystal-clear golden hue crowned by a luxuriously thick white foam, this innovative brew immediately intrigues the senses. The first whiff brings comforting aromas of freshly baked bread crust and yeast - a signature of its upcycled ingredients. These warm, bready notes carry through to each sip, where they're brightened by a subtle fruitiness and perfectly balanced hop bitterness. The finish surprises with a refreshing yet slightly savory edge - that magical touch of complexity that transforms this from just another beer into something genuinely special. It's proof that sustainability doesn't just feel good, it tastes extraordinary.
PS. Years ago, BrewDog made a beer with ALDI.
We're the second brand to bring our named beer to ALDI shelves.
Hey James Watt—no feuds.
Just rescued bread.
Fancy collaborating on beer #3?
